Band

Nyarlathotep is derived from H.P.Lovecraft’s mythology, an American science fiction writer. Nyarlathotep is the messenger of the Great Ancients; sometimes, he's also called the "Crawling Chaos". Formed in December 1998, the line-up is composed of persons of different horizons (classic, blue grass, heavy, death and black metal). Wishing to practise in a violent style, Nyarlathotep logically chooses the black metal. Without using keyboard in order to preserve the purity of classical instruments, Nyarlathotep draws its inspiration from some Scandinavian groups, such as Mayhem, Immortal and also Marduk.

For the moment, we are based in Besançon (Doubs, France).

In December 1998 the meeting of Lord Adunaphel, guitarist, was to seal the musical and initiatic destiny of the band, so that Nyarlathotep became more coherent. It only lacked for a work line. Nyarlathotep, who didn't know exactly how to manage a group, made then only small unfruitful practices, which certainly wouldn't have got them nowhere without the appointment of Eihwaz Berkano (vocals), who quickly took his marks in the group.

With the labour's help and a concrete work line ("Still more brutal"), we were able to start a program (based on some compositions and covers) which was played in june 19th, 1999 , during the Music Festival where we had been invited.

Working without a break, always seeking for more improvement, Nyarlathotep wrote other titles which were recorded in february 2000 with a very poor equipment in our own repetition room. The budget for this recording, which didn't exceed 2000 Frs (300€) at that time (the mixing table included), could explain the typical sound of the album, which however has its charm. The atmosphere in this record remains unique, gloomy. This was followed by a period of concerts (Lyon, Guidel, Nommay, Besançon... in France).

In 2002, Lord Adunaphel, who was less and less motivated by music, became too demanding as for the concerts. The band fell into a period of stagnation from which however several new titles were written. These titles were then produced only on stage in april 18th, 2002, during a show organized by Radio Campus Besançon.

After multiple disagreements between the group members, the repetitions were disorganized and became more and more rare. So much so that the new CD which was promised for 2002, was actually recorded in the beginning of 2003. "Ignobilis Ritæ" is more concrete than our previous demo. The songs are more violent and more distinct. This new CD was lately presented because of multiple arrangements and disagreements within the band.

Lord Adunaphel became more and more distant from the rest of the band. The concert of november 21st, 2003, at the "Bar des Arcades" (Besançon) was the last we did with this line up. As this concert went off badly, essentially because of Lord Adunaphel, we decided to part definitively from our original guitarist. The band looked then for a new one.

A guitarist, named Marty, was called to reinforce the group but however didn't pursue the collaboration. Since january 2004 we have been a trio. Eihwaz Berkano has efficiently taken the parts of the guitar. The promotion of "Ignobilis Ritæ" began only at that time.

At present, we're working on new titles. We know that a band's life is full of events and so passes through stable as well as chaotic periods. We are still motivated and we still find in us this musical enthusiasm which cannot die out...

Hail to Black metal !!!
